FBC Women's Conference
October 3, 2015     .     8:30 am - 1:00 pm
The Women’s Ministry of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church will hold Women’s Conference 2015 on Saturday, October 3, at the church.  The theme is “What the Bible Says About Christian Womanhood,” Acts 9:36. Conference registration for Fairview women is $25 and guest registration is $15.  The registration donation includes the continental breakfast, lunch and conference materials.

Agenda:

 8:30 a.m.  - Registration in Vestibule of Main Building
 8:30 a.m. - Continental Breakfast in Donald Burns Fellowship Hall. 
 9:00 a.m. - Conferencen Speakers
12 noon - Lunch
          
The topics that will be addressed and featured speakers: 
  • “The Christian Woman’s Role in the Family,” Sister Clotiel Howard, Fairview Missionary Baptist Church - Sister Howard is a lifetime member of Fairview where she actively serves in the Women’s Ministry, Prison Ministry and Married Couples Ministry.  She has an Associate Degree as a Paralegal and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  She is employed as the Training Director with CASA of Oklahoma County (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and volunteers as a mentor and advocate at various family focused agencies in the community.  It is her hope that every child has “Hope for Their Future” and that they never give up on life!   (Click for bio sketch)
  • “The Christian Woman’s Role in the Community,” State Senator Anastasia Pittman, Northeast Church of Christ  - Senator Pittman won her election to District 48 of the Oklahoma State Senate in November 2014.  She was previously elected to serve District 99 of the House of Representatives in November 2006.  Senator Pittman is involved in a number of civic, community, state and national organizations and has received various honors including 2013 Woman of the Year Nominee, Outstanding Community Service Recognition for Magic Star Foundation from former President Bill Clinton, Asian Legislative Excellence Award, and the Media Advocacy Award from the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, to name a few.    (Click for bio sketch)

  • “The Christian Woman’s Role in the Church,” Dr. Sharri L. Coleman, Fifth Street Missionary Baptist Church.   - Sharri L. Coleman obtained a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1998.   Dr. Coleman deviated from her career in medicine, opting to teach, working in Oklahoma City Public School system.  In 2006, she began teaching at the University of Oklahoma in the African and African American Studies program (AFAM).  She presently serves as an Adjunct Professor for AFAM and Women and Gender Studies.  Dr. Coleman is committed to the empowerment of every individual, especially women, to refocus, realize and utilize the strength that lies within.  She also encourages and mentors young people at her church, where her husband, Rev. A. Byron Coleman III, serves as Pastor. She leads the Women’s Ministry and has spoken at various Women’s conferences, luncheons and services throughout the country.  Dr. Coleman is the author of the book, Gained Everything Without Giving up Anything: Lessons Learned on my 40-day Family-focused Journey.   (click for bio sketch)
