Fairview Celebrates Family Month

By M. Patterson |  September 2, 2016

Dr. John A. Reed, Jr., Senior Pastor at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, has declared the month of September as Family Month.  Emphasis will be placed on the family throughout the month through Gospel proclamation, study periods, and various events.   The theme for the month is “How Christian is Your Family?” (Colossians 3:16-17)

Each Sunday’s agenda will include breakfast at 8:00 a.m., Sunday School Study Groups at 8:30 a.m. and Morning Worship at 10:00 a.m.  Specific programs are listed.

Sunday, September 4, is “Back to Church” Sunday.  The Pastor has made a special appeal to all members to be in attendance on that Sunday.  Dr. Reed will preach on the family for 10:00 a.m. worship.  September 11 is Grandparent Day.  A special tribute will be paid to grandparents with a program during the Sunday School hour.  Rev. Derrick E. Walter, Sr., Assistant Pastor at Fairview, will preach for the 10:00 a.m. worship period.

View Sundays, a service tailored for youth and young adults, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on September 11.  Preacher for the evening will be Rev. Derek Nettles of Net Church.  Fairview youth and young adults and guests will present various forms of worship expressions during the evening.

Sunday, September 18, is designated as Senior Saints Day.  Senior members, 60 years of age and over, will be recognized.  There will be reserved seating during Morning Worship and Senior Pastor Reed will be the morning messenger.  Lunch will be served in the Donald Burns Fellowship Hall and Educational Center immediately following worship.

September 23 - 24, the Family Enrichment Ministry has planned a Family Life Retreat.  The retreat will include activities in Branson, Missouri, and Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  For questions or information on the retreat, contact Larry or Cora Epps at 405-326-5270.

Family Month will conclude with Annual Family Day on Sunday, September 25.  Rev. Anthony “Tony” Rhone, a Son of Fairview and Pastor of Galilee Baptist Church, Shawnee, will be the preacher for the 10:00 a.m. worship period.
