Fairview Christian Leadership School Scheduled

Fairview Missionary Baptist Church’s Spring Session Christian Leadership School (CLS) is scheduled for May 6-7, 2016.  The CLS has been approved and certified by the Sunday School Publishing Board (SSPB) of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.  The theme is “Making Disciples” and “Envisioning the Future Exceptionally.”

The school will be in session Friday night from 6:00pm-9:00p.m. and Saturday from 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m.  Courses offered and instructors are, respectively:  “Synoptic Gospels,” Rev. Lee Benson; “The Introduction to the Old Testament,” Rev. Al Walter; “Christian Stewardship,” Rev. Frank Washington; “Teaching Youth,” Marcy Turner; “Rethinking Christian Education,” Rev. Wilmer Cooper;  “Theology and History of Christianity,” Robert Simmons; “Spiritual Formation,” Johnneese Walter; “Christian Evangelism,” Rev. Cleo McGlory; “Introduction to Discipleship,” Rev. Arthur Crawford; and “Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts,” Dr. Gregory Rogers, Sr.  The church nursery will be open Friday night and Saturday.

The aim of the SSPB CLS Program is to provide structured training and development activities that will take place at all levels of the Baptist denomination.  Its goal is to better prepare individuals to become witnesses in accordance with Acts 1:8.  Fairview’s School is open to anyone interested in furthering their Christian Education or earning course credit toward certification through the SSPB.

Pre-registration with the option to pay online is now available through the church website at www.fairviewokc.com.  Donation is $15.00 per course.  Onsite registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening.  Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure admission in the desired course.  Classes will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Additional information, i.e., course descriptions, school schedule, etc., is available on the church’s website.

The leadership of Fairview, as well as the staff for the CLS, endeavors to do its best in providing learning opportunities to help individuals grow spiritually and in their work and witness in the world for Christ.

The church is located at 1700 N.E. 7th Street in Oklahoma City.  East Zion District Association Congress Dean Lavinnie Moore serves as Dean of the School and is Fairview’s Christian Education Director.  Dr. John A. Reed. Jr., who is Vice President of the NBC USA Inc., Western Region, is Senior Pastor.
