By M. Patterson |  July 29, 2014

Fairview Baptist Church, located at 1700 N. E. 7th Street in Oklahoma City, has scheduled a Children, Youth, Young Adult and Mid-Lifers Spiritual Growth and Development Conference for August 14 – 17, 2014.  The theme for the Conference is “Are You About That Life,” centering on strengthening the community of faith through Spirit-led lives.  The scripture base is Acts 2:42-47.

“This Conference is designed to reshape personal lives of all the targeted age groups, birth to 55 years, according to Biblical patterns,” stated Senior Pastor J. A. Reed, Jr.  “It will give a basic pattern of equipping the saints, personal Christian growth, doctrinal integrity and the ultimate goal of building the church,” he continued.

Each group will be engaged in concurrent sessions with topics and activities that will concentrate on the two aspects of personality development:  the natural, human personality and the Christian personality.  Areas of growth and development that the Conference will address are:  1) Physical, 2) Intellect, 3) Social, 4) Emotional, and 5) Spiritual.

The lineup of presenters and facilitators include pastors, ministers and lay persons experienced in each of their respective areas.  Among the guest facilitators are Rev. Kraig Pullam, Pastor of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, Victoria, Texas, and Rev. Terry Buxton, Pastor of Agape Bible Fellowship, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sessions designed for the children (infant – 11 years), youth (12 – 17 years), young adults (18 – 39 years) and mid-lifers (40 – 55) will be held on Thursday and Friday nights from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Friday night's agenda also includes a family fun event, “The Kick Back,” from 9:00 p.m. to midnight.

The Conference will continue on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with a session designed specifically for Children and Youth workers and other leaders.  Pastor Buxton will be the facilitator.  It will close on Sunday with the 10:00 a.m. Worship Period.  Rev. Pullam will be the morning preacher.   He is also serving as facilitator for the Young Adult sessions on Thursday and Friday nights.

A tentative schedule of each group’s conference focus can be viewed on the church’s website at www.fairviewokc.com.

There is no cost for the Conference and it is open to the public. However, those that plan to attend are asked to pre-register to assist in Conference preparation (materials, room assignments, breaks, etc.).  Registration is now open and can be completed through the church’s website.

Questions should be directed to Rev. Derrick Walter, Assistant Pastor and Conference Coordinator, at 405-816-1960 or revderrick97@aol.com.
