January Prayer Focus at Fairview Church

By M. Patterson |  December 22, 2015

At a time of upheaval around the world, across the nation and throughout the community, Dr. John A. Reed, Jr., Senior Pastor of Fairview Baptist Church, has designated the month of January 2016 as Prayer Focus month for his congregation.

“I believe that everything that we do should be seasoned with prayer so we’re beginning the year with our entire membership involved in studying the necessity to pray, how to pray, and the power of prayer,” said Pastor Reed.  “All of our study and proclamation for the month of January will be on prayer, utilizing the theme, “The Sin of Prayerlessness,” I Samuel 12:23.   Additionally, two special events will be held:  The Super Prayer Meeting and Prayer Seminar.

The 9th Annual Super Prayer Meeting will be on Wednesday night, January 6, beginning at 7:00 p.m.   The evening will include praise and worship, a special period of prayer and a sermon.  The preacher for this year’s Super Prayer Meeting will be Rev. Rodney Payne, Pastor of Bethlehem Star Baptist Church.  Rev. Payne, under the power of the Holy Spirit, has been able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people of all ages.  He is dedicated to teach the world how to live in the love of God, walk in the will of God, and experience the power of God.  Bethlehem Star’s choir will provide music.

A Prayer Seminar will be held on Saturday, January 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  The facilitator for the Seminar will be Rev. Vance Roland, Pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. The seminar will include expressions and study on prayer, a question and answer period, prayer requests and a prayer and commitment period.  It is open to the public and there is no cost for participation.

“If we want God to heal our nation, we must humble ourselves and pray,” continued Dr. Reed, “and we invite the entire community to join with us in this prayer revival.”
