By M. Patterson |  January 7, 2017

Rev. Dr. Jerry Young, Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi, and President of the National Baptist Convention (NBC), USA, Inc., will be preaching at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Oklahoma City on Sunday, January 15, 2017, for the 10 a.m. Morning Worship Service.    Dr. Young will be in the City as the guest speaker for the 48th Annual City-wide Martin Luther King Religious Celebration.

Dr. Young is not only a national leader but also a profound gospel preacher and an avid scholar.  A highly-skilled and sought-after minister, Dr. Young has had the opportunity to preach in pulpits across the country and has breached several racial and denominational lines, touching them with the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  He has pastored the New Hope Baptist Church since 1980 and is the Founder and Headmaster of New Hope Christian School, founded in 1982.  In September 2014, Dr. Jerry Young was elected the eighteenth president of the NBC, USA, Inc.  The Convention, which began in 1880, is the largest black Baptist Convention, counting millions of members from churches, district associations and state conventions across the Continental United States and around the world.

Fairview Senior Pastor John Reed, Jr. serves as one of six Vice Presidents of the NBC, USA, Inc., working directly under Dr. Young.  Dr. Reed’s responsibility includes oversight of the Convention’s Western Region states, which includes Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma City community is invited to worship with Fairview on the 15th and experience the powerful preaching power demonstrated through this great leader.  Fairview is located at 1700 Northeast 7th Street.  For more information, call the church office at 405-232-1621, email fairviewokc@aol.com or visit the church website at www.fairviewokc.com.  Those needing transportation should call or text 405-471-9494.
