Social Action Ministry Model

The Social Action Ministry continues to provide quality information, services, and general support to the Fairview membership and community as a whole. The Ministry strives to inform the members and community of the various issues being considered in each election, candidates that are currently running for office, issues to be decided in an election, and nonpartisan distribution of information regarding elections. In addition to information regarding elections, the Ministry also strives to provide information regarding economic sustainability for church members.

During this past year, the Social Action Ministry sponsored a series of events to educate church members and the community on candidates for public office and ballot propositions. In July 2010, a Candidate Forum was sponsored which featured candidates for State Senate, District 48, State Representative, District 97 and District 99, and County Commissioner, District 1. The forum was well attended with over 150 church and community members in attendance. Additionally, the Ministry sponsored a voter registration drive and distributed sample ballots leading up to the November 2010 election and also educated the church membership on the new Census that took place.

The Social Action Ministry looks forward to continuing to support our Pastor and his goals, the church, and the community while seeking to educate, inform, and support the community.
