MLK Jr. Holiday Parade - Fairview Schedule
January 21, 2019, 11:00 am
The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade will be held Monday, January 21, at 2pm.  The 2019 theme is “We are CommUNITY.”

Fairview will again be participating in the parade. As in the past, the Children and Youth of Fairview will be marching in parade.  In the spirit of UNITY at our church, this year we are reaching out to the entire Fairview Church Family to support the parade and our church by participating in some manner.  Options are:
  1. March in the parade as a part of the Fairview Church Family
  2. Ride in the parade on the church bus  (Fairview members that are physically unable to walk the route)
  3. Stand along the parade route and cheer Fairview on as they proceed down the parade route. (click to download map)  There is a new parade route this year.  The parade will flow down Walker towards Reno Ave.
Those participating in the parade (marchers and riders) with Fairview should be at the church at 11:00am.  The Fairview buses will leave the church promptly at 12 noon.

As customary, a point of emphasis in the parade will be the prohibition against throwing candy from vehicles of parade participants. There is a city ordinance against this and law enforcement and parade marshals remain vigilant in enforcing this law. The proper procedure for sharing candy is to have someone from the organization to walk along and hand out candy rather than throwing it.

Fairview members should contact Sister LaNita Wright for further directions regarding Fairview's participation.
