By M. Patterson |  August 31, 2015

The Fairview Church Family will celebrate Family Month during September 2015.  A number of activities are scheduled, each focused on the theme, “The Foundation of the Home,” Matthew 7:24-27.  Wednesday Bible Study, Sunday School lessons and sermons will concentrate on “What the Bible Says About the Family.”

Dr. John A. Reed, Jr., Senior Pastor at Fairview, will kick off the month on the first Sunday, September 6, presenting the Biblical answer to “Why Society is Out of Order,” preaching from Genesis 1:26-28; 2:7-9, 16-18, 21-25.  Grandparents will be honored on September 13 in recognition of National Grandparent Day.  A special program will be held at 9:00 a.m. and Rev. Derrick Walter, Sr., Assistant Pastor, will preach at the 10:00 a.m. worship hour.

The Family Enrichment Ministry will sponsor a Family Life Retreat September 18 – 19 with an overnight trip by train to Ft. Worth, Texas, with sightseeing.

September 20 is Senior Saints Day. Senior Pastor Reed will preach a special message for 10:00 a.m. morning worship.  Special regard will be given to members and guests aged 60 and over, including lunch following the worship period.

Sunday, September 27, is Annual Family Day at Fairview.  The day will begin with Sunday School at 8:30 a.m. and continue with morning worship at 10:00 a.m.  Family members are asked to sit together during worship.  The Family Day message will be by Rev. Manuel Scott, Jr. of Los Angeles, California.  Rev. Scott is the first seminary trained, full-time evangelist on a national scale coming out of the Black Baptist church.  Evangelist Scott has conducted well over 1000 revivals and crusades (averaging 48 revivals a year) wherein some 20,000 persons have come to the Lord.  He is the author of the book, The Quotable Manuel Scott Sr: Words From A Gospel Genius, and has written well over 75 printed contemporary lectures.  He has conducted many workshops and seminars on the family, marriage and living single.  See more on Rev. Scott’s ministry at www.manuelscottjr.org.

“The Lord Himself set up the family structure and has given the direction for the family in His Word,” stated Senior Pastor Reed.  He further declared that “Society is out of order because families are out of order.  The church must take the lead, through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, to restore families, helping them to become stronger and able to make their rightful contribution to society.”

The community is invited to come, bring their family members, and be a part of this spiritual revival of the family.  For additional information call the church at 405-232-1621 or visit the church website at www.fairviewokc.com  to download materials or obtain details on activities.  Transportation is available by calling or texting information to 405-471-9494.  The church is located at 1700 N.
