Fairview Focus on the Family in September

Dr. John A. Reed, Jr., Senior Pastor at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, has declared the month of September as Family Month.  Emphasis will be placed on the family throughout the month through Gospel proclamation, study periods, and various events.   The theme is “The Family Called to Victorious Christian Living,” Ephesians 6:10-20.

Each Sunday’s agenda will include breakfast at 8:00 a.m., Sunday School Study Groups at 8:30 a.m. and Morning Worship at 10:00 a.m.  Specific programs are listed.

Sunday, September 3 is “Back to Church” Sunday.  The Pastor has made a special appeal to all members, active and inactive, to be in attendance on that Sunday.  Dr. Reed will preach a special message on the family for 10:00 a.m. worship.  September 10 is Grandparent Day.  A special tribute will be paid to grandparents with a program during the Sunday School hour.  Rev. Damascus Williams, Youth Pastor at Fairview, will preach for the 10:00 a.m. worship period.  

View Sundays, a contemporary service tailored for children, youth and young adults, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on September 10.  Preacher for the evening is Rev. James E. Reed, III, of Fairview.  Invited guests include St. John C.M.E. Children, Youth and Young Adult Choir, New Dimensions Ministries youth praise dance group, Unashamed Praise.  

Sunday, September 17, is designated as Senior Saints Day.  Senior members, 60 years of age and over, will be recognized.  There will be reserved seating during Morning Worship and Assistant Pastor, Rev. Derrick E. Walter, Sr., will be the morning messenger.  Lunch will be served in the Donald Burns Fellowship Hall and Educational Center immediately following worship.

The highlight of the month is Annual Family Day on Sunday, September 24.  Rev. Anthony “Tony” Rhone, a Son of Fairview and Pastor of Galilee Baptist Church, Shawnee, will be the preacher for the 10:00 a.m. worship period.  All members are asked to rally their family members and friends to come and share together in worship.

The month’s events will end with the Family Enrichment Ministry’s Family Life Retreat September 29 – October 1.  The retreat will be based at Fin and Feather Resort at Gore, Oklahoma, and will include sightseeing, study sessions, a cookout, games and social night.  Details on the retreat are available on the church website or by contacting Ministry Directors Larry or Cora Epps at 405-326-5270.
