Ministerial Ethics and Preaching Conference Scheduled for May 2017

Registration is now open for the Second Annual John A. Reed, Jr. Ministerial Ethics and Preaching Conference.  The Conference, scheduled for May 18 - 20, 2017, is sponsored by John A. Reed, Jr. Ministries and will be held at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, 1700 N E 7th Street, Oklahoma City, where Ministry Founder, Dr. J. A. Reed, Jr., has served 54 years as Pastor. 

The main focus of the Conference remains, Restoring A Biblical Approach to Ministry, I Timothy 4:13-16.  2017 emphasis is "Biblical Character and Biblical Preaching."

The target group is both seasoned pastors and young men preparing for or just beginning ministry.  Those attending will be challenged to never lose sight of their Biblical calling.  From scriptural backgrounds to practical application, participants will recover the Biblical priorities of ministerial service.

Returning keynotes for this year's Conference include Rev. Manuel Scott, Jr. of Los Angeles, California, presenting on “Preacher, Wait Your Turn,” Rev. H.B. Charles, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, presenting on "What is Expositional Preaching," and Dr. John Reed, Jr., Veteran Preacher/Pastor, Ministry Founder and Conference Chair, on "Ministerial Perspectives."  Rev. Scott and Rev. Charles will be preaching during the Conference.  Also presenting during this year’s Conference are:  Pastor Ray Douglas, Greater Mt. Olive Baptist, OKC, “Building Your War Chest: The Preacher and His Library,” Pastor Major Jemison, St. John Baptist, OKC, “Christ-Centered Preaching,” and Pastor Willie B. Smith of Bethlehem Baptist, Lawton, “Preaching to Millennials.” 

Based on the request of last year’s Conference participants, this year’s agenda has been extended to three days, Thursday through Saturday, and has added enhancements such as breakout sessions, preaching resource presentations, and extended periods with the presenters.  There will be a community Worship Service on Thursday night, Rev. Manuel Scott, Jr. preaching, and Friday night, Rev. H.B. Charles, Jr. preaching.

Registration can be completed online, can be mailed or completed onsite.  Early Bird Registration is $125 (prior to April 30); Regular Registration is $150 (May 1 and after).  Lodging for the Conference has been arranged with the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2945 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK   73112.  Reduced rates are:  $99 per night (plus tax), includes breakfast, or $89 per night (plus tax), without breakfast.  The deadline for rooms at this rate is May 4, 2017.   There are a limited number of rooms at this rate.  Contact the hotel direct at 1-405-848-4811 to make reservations.  The room block is under the name of John A.
