CCSR to Hold Meeting on Voter Registration

March 6, 2012

The Concerned Clergy for Spiritual Renewal of Oklahoma City, led by President J. A. Reed Jr., is summoning pastors in the area to attend an important meeting on voter registration and the new voting process.   The meeting will be held on March 16 at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1700 N. E. 7th Street.  The start time is 11:00 a.m.

Doug Sanderson, Secretary of the Oklahoma County Election Board, and Miguel Medrano, Oklahoma State Director of Obama for America, will be present at the meeting.

“One of the most significant areas of Christian concern is politics, which can be defined as the formation and implementation of public policy for the common good.  The church, the body of Christ, must make itself manifest in all areas of common life,” stated President Reed.   “The privilege to vote is the opportunity that every citizen has for political participation.  We are obligated, as the church, to exercise our Christian influence to see that every eligible citizen is registered to vote,” continued President Reed.

Dr. Reed is urging all pastors in the Greater Oklahoma City area to come and share in this discussion of means to engage congregations in a united effort to work for voter registration.
