“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30); “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37; “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:19-20).
These Scriptures, and many, many others like them in the Word of God, unequivocally, without controversy or debate, teach that the greatest need of mankind is to be saved (to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior), and, consequently, that the most important and most eternally rewarding act of Christian service, corporately as a church family and individually as a member of the body of Christ, is to be involved in the ministry of Evangelism (witnessing, soul-winning). Each person’s eternal destiny – the place where he will spend his eternal life and abode (heaven or hell) after the cessation of his physical life upon the earth – rests upon the decision he makes regarding his acceptance or rejection of Jesus as his Lord and Savior (Psalm 9:17; John 3:36; II Thessalonians 1:7-10).
Fairview Baptist Church is committed to the work of Evangelism. We thank and praise God for the leadership of our Pastor, Dr. J. A. Reed, Jr., in this missions work, as he continually exhorts the church family in his weekly teaching and preaching and by personal example. Every member of the Fairview Church Family is encouraged and expected to be involved in the work of Evangelism, and during each calendar year, with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:13), is exhorted and encouraged to work to win at least one soul to Christ. Evangelism is an individual responsibility and each believer will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ to give an account of his Evangelism efforts (Ezekiel 33:7-9; Luke 15:10; John 4:35-36; Romans 14:12; II Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 6:4; Revelations 22:12).
The Fairview Church Family meets with other churches on the third Saturday of each month, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, for our Evangelism Ministry. The first hour consists of Bible instruction, followed by an hour of outreach (field) work. All members, in addition to meeting as a group on the third Saturday, are encouraged to witness on a daily basis as we interact with people in various places (Proverbs 27:1; Hebrews 3:13; James 4:13-17).
The Ministry also serves as the Parent Ministry for Fairview's Prison Ministry and the 12 Step Recovery Program.
The Prison Ministry's goal is to reach out to those that are incarcerated and present Christ to the unsaved. Ministry members also provide resources and support to ex-offenders and their families as they reenter society. Activities include visits to various correctional facilities and serving as conduits to mainstream those served into the Fairview Family.
The “Community Outreach for Recovery 12 Step Program” is open to the community and relates to any type of addiction that one may be dealing with. The focus of the ministry is based on the Life Recovery Bible.
