Community Members to Receive Spirit of the Community Award

Fairview Missionary Baptist Church will be recognizing several distinguished community members with the “John A. Reed, Jr. Spirit of the Community Award.”  Recipients will be recognized during the church service on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at 10:00 am. These recipients are dedicated servants of the community with a proven track record of continued service through community activism, education, politics or civic service, professional service, or religious service.

The “John A. Reed, Jr. Spirit of the Community Award” was created in 2010 as a way to recognize citizens who have gone above the call of duty by volunteering their time and resources for the betterment of the community.  Previous award recipients include:  Federal District Court Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange, former State Representative Kevin Cox, former State Senators Judy Eason McIntyre, Angela Monson, the late E. Melvin Porter, and the late Clara Luper.

The 2019 award recipients are: Cleo Beshears, Glen M. Brooks, Lori Combs, Melvin Combs, Pastor Lee E. Cooper, Jr., Pastor James L. Dunbar, Pastor Jeffery D. Goldsmith, Clotiel M. Howard, Bobbie Jones, Vivian Jones, Senator Kevin Matthews, Councilwoman Nikki Nice, Norma Noble, Pastor Harvey Potts, James Reed, Jr., Ayana Talley, Henry Talley, Pastor Chester A. West, Pastor Kenneth L. West, and LaSheena Wilson.  The dynamic guest speaker for the morning worship service is Pastor Willie B. Smith, Jr., Bethlehem Baptist Church, Lawton, Oklahoma.
