Fairview Sponsor Events on Prayer

Prayer Seminar and Super Prayer Meeting Scheduled

January 8, 2010

As the church begins a new century of service in the northeast community, Pastor John A. Reed, Jr. has called for the congregation at Fairview Baptist Church to begin 2010 with a focus on Evangelism and Prayer.
“We just completed a year-long celebration of our church implementing the Great Commission. This year, we want to focus on continuing our work in Evangelism, so we’re using the theme, ‘Campaign for Christ: In It to Win in 2010’,” said Pastor Reed.  “I believe everything we do should be seasoned with prayer so during the month of January, all instruction and messages will be on prayer,” Rev. Reed continued.
The Prayer Ministry of Fairview, led by Prayer Coordinator Sister Patricia F. Reed, will conduct two events in the month to educate and enlighten those in attendance on the power of prayer among Christian believers and how it unites a church together for Christian witnessing and discipleship.
The theme for these special events is “The Power of a Praying Church ,” Matthew 18:19-20, Acts 1:14; 4:31.  A Prayer Seminar will be held on Saturday, January 9, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon.   The principal speaker for the seminar is Rev. Anthony Rhone, Pastor of Galilee Baptist Church, Shawnee , Oklahoma .  Rev. Rhone is a product of Fairview and was the Assistant to Pastor Reed prior to accepting the call to serve at Galilee .  The Prayer Coordinator will also share the year-long plan for Fairview ’s Prayer Ministry.  There will be a period for questions and answers, prayer requests and a prayer and commitment service.  The seminar is open to the public and there is no cost for participation.  Continental breakfast will be served.
The second prayer event will be the Annual Super Prayer Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, at 7:00 p.m.  This is the fourth year, consecutively, that Pastor Reed has summoned the more than 2,000 member congregation for the Super Prayer Meeting.  The evening will include praise and worship, a sermon, and a special period of prayer.   Petitions will be made for the Pastor and his family, the Church Family, households and marriages, the community, government, U.S. President and his family, other church families, the sick & shut-in, lost souls and those who are backsliders, unity, obedience and commitment of the Ministries.
The preacher for the evening will be Rev. Earl Bryant, Pastor of Wildewood Baptist Church in Oklahoma City
The community is invited to come and join with Fairview during these events.  Fairview is located at 1700 Northeast Seventh Street in Oklahoma City .  For more information or transportation, call the church office at 405-232-1621.
