Pastor Reed to Receive Prestigious Award

Rev. J. A. Reed to be Honored by Langston University

Dr. Kent J. Smith, Jr., newly appointed President of Langston University, announced that Fairview’s Pastor J. A. Reed, Jr., is among an elite group of outstanding individuals selected to receive the schools President’s Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes exceptional service to the University, the local community and the state of Oklahoma.
 
The award will be presented during the 7th Annual President’s Scholarship Gala scheduled for Friday, October 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center Grand Ballroom in Oklahoma City.  
 
Dr. Smith advised Rev. Reed that “Your selection was based upon a demonstrated commitment to bettering the lives of Oklahomans through your advocacy and support.  The chronicles of Oklahoma’s history are replete with examples of your unwavering support of education.  You are a community leader whose philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors have earned you tremendous respect and noteworthiness.”
 
Dr. Reed is one of three recepients.  Others are Mr. Jim Reese, Oklahoma State Secretary of Agriculture, and Dr. James Mosley, Founder of C. Felton “Zip” Gayles Endowment.
